Frequently asked questions

How much does an MRI cost in Bali?

The price depends on the body part, whether contrast is used, and the machine’s power. The starting price is 3,900,000 IDR. You can calculate your total cost on our booking page: https://healthbali.info/bookmri

Can I get an MRI urgently?

Yes, HealthBali offers fast-track MRI bookings. If slots are available, we can schedule your appointment for the same or next day.

Do I need a doctor’s referral for an MRI?

Yes, according to Indonesian regulations, a doctor’s referral is required before undergoing any diagnostic procedure. If you don’t have one, HealthBali can arrange a pre-MRI consultation for you at one of our partner clinics.

What’s the difference between contrast and non-contrast MRI?

Contrast-enhanced MRI provides better visualization of tumors, blood vessels, and inflammation, but requires preparation (blood tests for creatinine, urea, and eGFR).
Non-contrast MRI is the standard for most general diagnostic purposes.

Which MRI machine should I choose: 1.5 Tesla or 3 Tesla?

1.5 Tesla is the gold standard and is suitable for most diagnostic needs.
3 Tesla is a more powerful machine offering higher image detail and is recommended by doctors for specific cases. We will help you choose the best option based on your situation.

Is it more expensive to book through HealthBali?

Not necessarily. The prices listed on our platform are average, pre-agreed rates with clinics. Depending on the service, they may be lower, equal to, or slightly higher than booking directly.

Booking through HealthBali includes:

  • Smart selection of the best value-for-money clinics and specialists
  • Price confirmed before booking
  • Our support and flexible free cancellation policy
Why is the list of clinics limited?

There is a shortage of medical specialists in Bali, and many of them work across multiple clinics. This limits appointment availability and requires more flexible scheduling.

Most experienced doctors and reputable medical centers are located in Denpasar – the island’s main city – where better equipment, laboratories, and diagnostic/treatment conditions are available.

Is it covered by insurance?

Coverage depends on the terms of your insurance policy.
HealthBali assists in organizing medical services and providing documentation, but we cannot guarantee reimbursement from your insurer.

If you’re planning to claim reimbursement, we recommend contacting your insurance provider in advance to check whether the services are covered.

We do our best to make the process as smooth as possible, but reimbursement decisions are ultimately made by your insurance company.

Can the final cost change?

Yes, the final cost may increase or decrease depending on the scope of procedures needed — which can change after initial diagnostics or based on your response to treatment.

If a clinic adds extra items to the bill, you have the right to decline them. You can also contact us to check whether those services are available at a better price elsewhere.

More about your booking

How quickly can I get an appointment?

MRI appointments may require 1–2 days’ notice. We confirm the available clinic and time before your visit.

Where will my MRI take place?

Licensed partner clinics in Bali that we work with under direct agreements. The specific facility for your booking – with its address and details – is named in your booking confirmation before you pay.

Who chooses which MRI I need?

Your doctor does. HealthBali does not recommend tests, interpret results or decide on the scope of an examination – we organise the visit you ask for. If you are unsure what you need, the clinic can arrange a consultation first.

How should I prepare for my MRI?

Preparation depends on your MRI and whether contrast is required. We will send the clinic’s instructions when confirming your booking.

Will I get my MRI report and images in English?

Yes. The radiologist’s report is written in English and is usually ready within 1–2 working days; you receive your results electronically. How the images are shared depends on the clinic – your manager can tell you in advance. If you would like the findings explained, a review with a doctor can be arranged on request. HealthBali does not interpret results and does not give medical advice.
